Potato Juice Dab for a Dull Spot

Fresh potato juice, thinned with a little rose water, is dabbed on a dull-looking spot with cotton pads. Patch test before the face. This dab does not lighten or erase a mark.

Kitchen still life of a cut potato, fresh potato juice, cotton pads, and rose water on a tray, with no people and no text.

About this potato juice spot dab

A raw potato gives a cloudy juice when it is grated and pressed. A little rose water makes that juice easier to dab with cotton pads. The cotton should be clean, and the juice should be fresh, not one that has been sitting and turning brown.

Use it only as a short dab on intact skin after a patch test. It will not fade a spot, bleach the face, or even out color. If the skin is open, scabbed, or sore, do not put juice on it.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons fresh potato juice
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
  • clean cotton pads

How to prepare

  1. Grate a fresh potato, press the gratings, and collect the juice.
  2. Stir in a little rose water. Throw away juice that has turned dark or smells off.

How to use

  • Patch test on the inner arm a day before you touch the face.
  • Dip a clean cotton pad and dab once on a dull spot of intact skin. Keep it off the eyes.
  • Leave it for a few minutes, then rinse. Do not scrub the spot.

Helpful habits

  • Make only a spoon or two. Potato juice does not keep.
  • Use a fresh cotton pad. Do not dip a used pad back into the juice.

Precautions

  • External use only. Do not drink the juice as part of this recipe, and keep it out of the eyes.
  • Patch test and wait a day. Skip the face if the arm turns red or itchy.
  • Do not use it on broken, cut, or sunburnt skin. Stop if the spot stings.

No. A few minutes is enough, then rinse. Do not sleep with it on the skin.
