Cool water splashed on closed eyelids

A quick splash of cool water on closed eyelids can freshen the face after heat or screen time. The eyes stay shut. This is not a homemade eyewash.

Water on closed lids, not in the eye

This habit is ordinary face washing aimed at the closed lid, with clean cool water from the tap or a steel cup. You do not hold the eye open, and you do not flush the eyeball with a home mix.

Nothing goes into the eye. No homemade eyewash, and no ghee, rose water, milk, or cucumber goes inside the eye. Ghee is only rubbed on the soles, never used here.

Ingredients

  • A cup of clean cool water
  • Clean hands
  • A soft towel

How to prepare

  1. Wash your hands. Fill a cup with clean cool water, not hot water.
  2. Stand at a basin with a towel nearby and close your eyes before any splash.

How to use

  • With eyes fully closed, splash a little cool water over the lids.
  • Pat the face dry. Do not rub the eyes.
  • Open the eyes only after the skin is dry.

Helpful habits

  • Cool water is enough. Ice pressed on the eye is harsher than this splash.
  • If you wear eye makeup, remove it the way you usually do before washing.

Precautions

  • Nothing goes into the eye. Splash only on closed lids. No homemade eyewash.
  • No ghee, rose water, milk, or cucumber goes inside the eye. Do not add salt, honey, or herbs to the water.
  • Do not splash an injured, painful, or discharging eye. See a doctor instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an eyewash?

No. There is no homemade eyewash here. Cool water touches closed lids only. Nothing goes into the eye.

Can I add rose water or salt to the splash?

No. Use plain cool water. Rose water, salt, milk, ghee, and cucumber do not go inside the eye.

What if water still gets in?

Keep the lids gently closed and use a small splash. If the eye hurts afterwards, stop and see a doctor.
