Lemongrass Benefits and Uses in Tea

Lemongrass tea with a little ginger is a mild cup after oily food. It tastes like the kitchen, not like a detox, and it is not a digestion treatment.

Lemongrass stalks and ginger slices in a small pot of pale tea, with a strained cup beside the pot, kitchen still life.

Lemongrass benefits and uses after oily food

Lemongrass, or lemon grass, gives a clean citrus smell to hot water. Two stalks, or a spoon of dried grass, plus a few slices of ginger, make one pale cup. Drink it after a heavy, oily meal if you want something warm that is not more tea-bag tannin or coffee.

The cup stays mild. It does not burn fat, clear toxins, or treat the stomach. People who get heartburn from ginger can leave the ginger out and keep only a short lemongrass steep. Small children do not need a strong brew.

Ingredients

  • Two fresh lemongrass stalks, or a spoon of dried lemongrass
  • Two or three slices of ginger
  • Water for one cup
  • A thin strip of lemon peel, optional

How to prepare

  1. Rinse the lemongrass, bruise the lower end, and simmer it with ginger in a cup of water for five minutes.
  2. Strain into a cup. Add lemon peel only if you want more fragrance, then take it out.

How to use

  • Sip one cup warm after oily food, not on a completely empty stomach if ginger bothers you.
  • Stop at one cup. A second, stronger brew is not more useful.
  • Use the stalks as tea, not as a raw wad to chew all afternoon.

Helpful habits

  • The pale lower stalk is more fragrant than the dry green tips.
  • Dried lemongrass is stronger by the spoon, so do not fill the pot.

Precautions

  • This is a mild food-like tea, not a detox and not a treatment for digestion, fever, or weight.
  • Skip the ginger if you have active heartburn, and skip the tea if lemongrass has bothered you before.
  • Do not give a strong cup to small children. Pregnancy can stay with a weak occasional cup or skip it if a doctor prefers.

Frequently asked questions

When is lemongrass tea used here?

As one mild cup with ginger after oily food. It is a kitchen drink, not a cleanse.

Will it remove the oil from a meal?

No. It does not burn fat or undo a heavy plate. It is only a warm sip.

Can I boil it for a long time?

Five minutes is enough. A long boil makes a harsh cup, not a better one.
