Orange peel and multani mitti pack for oily skin
Don't throw away orange peels in winter — dried and powdered, they make a fragrant, gently cleansing face pack for oily, shiny skin when mixed with multani mitti and rose water.

The Ayurvedic view
Oily skin in Ayurveda is associated with kapha (heavy, oily, smooth) often mixed with pitta. The aim is to absorb the excess without stripping the skin, because over-washing can make it produce even more oil. Multani mitti draws out oil, and sun-dried orange peel powder adds a pleasant scent and a light polishing effect.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon orange peel powder (peels sun-dried for 3–4 days, then ground)
- 1 teaspoon multani mitti
- Rose water to mix; a few drops of honey (optional)
How to prepare
- Mix the powders with rose water into a smooth paste. Add honey if your skin feels tight after packs.
How to use
- Apply on clean skin, focusing on the forehead, nose and chin; avoid the eyes.
- Rinse after 10–12 minutes, before it dries completely. Use twice a week.
- Follow with a light, oil-free moisturiser or a dab of aloe vera gel.
Helpful habits
- Wash the face twice a day with a gentle cleanser — not more.
- Blot shine with tissue paper during the day instead of washing repeatedly.
- Reduce fried and very sugary food, and drink enough water.
Precautions
- Citrus peel can irritate sensitive skin — patch-test and don't scrub hard; avoid on active, inflamed acne or broken skin.
- Don't go into strong sun right after using citrus on the skin.
- Sudden, very oily skin with acne and irregular periods may relate to hormonal issues — consult a doctor.
