Ajwain with black salt for gas
Carom seeds (ajwain) have a sharp, warming taste. A small pinch with black salt and warm water is a well-known kitchen measure for occasional gas and cramping after a heavy meal.

Ingredients
- ½ teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
- A pinch of black salt (kala namak)
- ½ glass warm water
How to prepare
- Lightly dry-roast the ajwain in a pan for 30 seconds until fragrant (optional).
- Mix with the black salt.
How to use
- Chew the mixture and wash it down with warm water after a heavy meal.
- Use occasionally, not as a daily habit.
Precautions
- Avoid if you have acidity, ulcers or a burning sensation in the stomach.
- Pregnant women should avoid medicinal amounts of ajwain.
- People on a low-salt diet for blood pressure or kidney problems should skip the black salt.
- Severe or sudden abdominal pain is not a gas problem to treat at home — seek medical help.
